When it’s time for spring cleaning, don’t sweep me out with the quacks and crooks,…” (Psalms 26:8-9, The Message) “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!” ♱♱♱♱♱♱♱♱ “You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” (Genesis 4:7, NLT) 1.) THE PURPOSE OF THE DOOR ➢ Front door (noun): the main entrance to a house or building usually facing the street. “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (Proverbs 4:23, NLT) 2.) HAVE YOU LEFT THE DOOR OPEN? ”A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45, NKJV) ➢ WHEN SHOULD WE SHUT THE DOOR? “For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. (Mark 7:21–22, NLT) 3.) WHEN WE SHOULD OPEN THE DOOR "The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Ex 12:13, ESV) ➢ APPLY THE BLOOD "let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:22, NLT) "For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” (Romans 10:10, NLT) Life Group Questions What is the front door the entrance to? Who’s crouching at your front door? Who / what are you allowing in your home/heart? Who/what do you need to kick out of your home/heart? Who’s knocking at your front door, and have you responded?
