Being a Blessing
AM I BEING A BLESSING , NOT AM I BEING BLESSED “Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4 NASB) “The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold.” (Job 42:10 NASB) 1. THE BLESSING YOU GIVE , IS THE BLESSING YOU’LL RECEIVE MORE OF “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full – pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” (Luke 6:38 NLT) 2. CHOOSE TO BE A CONDUIT , NOT A CONTAINER “There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.” (Proverbs 11:24 NASB) “The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.” (Proverbs 11:25 NASB) 3. BE A SECRET BLESSER “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven…” (Matthew 6:1 NIV) “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing (4) so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father , who sees what is done in secret, will reward you .” (Matthew 6:3-4 NIV) Discussion Question: How do you want to be remembered by your family, friends, job, school, church etc.? How do you want to be remembered as a couple (if married) by your family, friends, church etc.? What has God already blessed you with? In what ways are you a blessing to your family, friends, community, church? How are you being a blessing with your time, treasure and talent?
