HONOR GOES UP, HONOR COMES DOWN “Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.” (I Samuel 2:30 NIV) LAW OF HONOR Honor (time; “tee-mee”) : Valuable, treat as precious, weighty like gold; appreciation, esteem, favorable, regard, respect. Dishonor (atimia) : To NOT show respect; treat as common, ordinary, or menial. Disdain : Feeling that someone is unworthy of one’s consideration or respect. “…He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.” (Mark 6:5 NKJ) “But, Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.’” (Mark 6:4 NKJ) 1. HONOR IS AN ESSENTIAL KEY TO RECEIVING FROM HEAVEN “How you have fallen from heaven…you have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations! But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly…I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” (Isaiah 14:12-14 NASB) 2. WORD (what you say), ACTION (what you do), AND THOUGHT (what you think) “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.” (Isaiah 29:13 NKJ). “…he who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” (John 5:23 NKJ). “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives (honors) whomever I send receives (honors) Me; and he who receives (honors) Me receives (honors) Him who sent Me.” (John 13:20 NKJ) DISHONOR IS THE BREADING GROUND FOR BETRAYAL “And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him.” (John 13 :2 NKJ). “Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him…” (John 13:27 NKJ) “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgement to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.” (I Corinthians 11:29 NKJ) 3. HONOR GOD WITH YOUR TIME, TREASURE AND TALENT “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits (heart/tithe) of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJ) HONOR GOD, BY GIVING YOUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.” (Malachi 3:8 NKJ) “Bring all the tithe into the storehouse (barn; home church), that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive .” (v. 10)
