"Jesus, the 2nd Mile!”

If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one

who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5:41-42 (NIV)

1. Our Lives Can Be Lived on 3 Levels:

  • Hellish Level – To return evil for good

  • Human Level – To return good for good and evil for evil

  • Heavenly Level – To return good for evil

2. THE PRINCIPLE OF THE 2ND MILE IS TO DO MORE THAN WHAT IS REQUIRED OR EXPECTED OF US. BE EXTRA!

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)

3. POSSESS THESE “MILE-STONES” IN OUR LIVES TO RECEIVE 2ND MILE BLESSINGS:

  • CHARACTER MILE – “People with good intentions make promises, but people with good character keep them.”

  • COMMITMENT MILE – “Staying loyal to what you said you were going to do long after the mood you said it in has left you.”

  • CRUCIBLE MILE – “It is in the quiet crucible of your personal, private sufferings, that will test your faith in God and your love for people.”

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. Hebrews 10:36 (NIV)

4. JESUS WALKED THE MIRACLE MILE FOR YOU! ARE YOU WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR HIM?

For sure He took on Himself our troubles and carried our sorrows. Yet we thought of Him as being punished and hurt by God, and made to suffer. But He was hurt for our wrong-doing. He was crushed for our sins. He was punished so we would have peace. He was beaten so we would be healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 (New Life Version)
