"Built on a Prayer"
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Matthew 15:7 NKJ
KEEP IT SIMPLE & PRACTICAL
1. DON’T TRY TO IMPRESS PEOPLE OR GOD!
“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.” Matthew 6:5 NKJV
2. CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE. HUMBLENESS IS KEY!
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6 NKJV
3. FILTER OUT THE FLUFF!
“And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.” John 6:7 NKJV
4. DISOBEDIENCE IS A PRAYER BLOCKER!
“One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.” Proverbs 28:9 NKJV
LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS:
Does praying in public intimidate you? Do you find yourself using phrases that don’t truly reflect your true heart? Why is that?
What is Gods purpose for prayer? Why does He want to hear us if He is all knowing?
Is prayer part of your daily life? What are some things that prevent you from praying?
Do you believe that your prayer is as effective as someone else’s? What are some prayer blockers in your life?
