"Discovering God's Divine Purpose"
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5 NASB)
1. DIVINE PURPOSE BEGINS WITH GOD
“You who know, O Lord, remember me, take notice of me…” (Jeremiah 15:15 NASB)
“Therefore, thus says the Lord ‘If you return, then I will restore you – before Me you will stand…” (Jeremiah 15:19 NASB)
2. DISCOVERY, IS LIKE AN UNFOLDING
“…I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.” (I Corinthians 13:12 NASB)
AS YOU ARE DISCOVERING, GOD IS DEVELOPING YOU
AS YOU ARE FAITHFUL WITH THE LITTLE
"He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much…” (Luke 16:10 NASB)
3. RENEWING YOUR MIND
"be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
(Romans12:2 NASB)
RENEWING (Anakainosis: RENOVATE). Ana: Repetition; Intensity; Reversal. Kainosis: New kind, unused, fresh, uncommon, unprecedented.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways…for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB)
LIMITED THINKING
EARTHLY WAYS
LIMITED PERSPECTIVE
4. ASK GOD OFTEN
“Then David inquired of the Lord once more. And the Lord answered…” (I Samuel 23:4 NASB)
Life Group Discussion:
Have you discovered God’s divine purpose for your life? If yes, how did you discover it? If “no”, what will you do to find out?
Explain what “faithful with the little” means in context of discovering divine purpose.
Explain how “discovery and development” work together in divine purpose?
When you meet God face to face in Heaven, do you think you will hear God say to you “Well done, good and faithful servant”? Why or why not? If not, what action steps will you take?
