“Your New Comeback"

••••

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith…” (Romans 1:16-17 NASB)

BAPTISM (Greek: Baptizo): Fully immersed.

1. FOLLOWING JESUS’ EXAMPLE

“…Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness…” (Matthew 3:15 NASB)

● JESUS’ DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION

● IDENTIFYING YOURSELF WITH CHRIST

“…all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death…therefore, we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead…so we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:3&4 NASB)

“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 LB)

“…’Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.’” (John 3:3 NASB)

“…How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” (John 3:4 NASB)

“…unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit…‘You must be born again.’” (John 3:5-7 NASB)

2. BORN INTO THE SPIRITUAL FAMILY OF CHRIST

3. DON’T DELAY WASHING AWAY INSIDE SINS!

“Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.” (Acts 22:16 NASB)

4. LIVE IT!

“Prove by the way you live that you have really turned from your sins and turned to God.” (Matthew 3:8 NLT)

Life Group Discussion:

  1. For those who got water baptized: Share your water baptism experience; How has it changed your life? Did you have to overcome some obstacles prior to getting water baptized?

  2. What are the benefits of getting water baptized?
