“Do We Have Time?"

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NASB)

“DO WE HAVE TIME?”

♱♱♱♱♱♱♱♱

“A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted;” (Ecclesiastes 3:2, NKJV)

1.) WE ALL ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME

➢ “Today comes but once and comes never to return. We hope it will come again tomorrow; but it does not. It is gone forever, with its inexhaustible possibilities, privileges and responsibilities.” (record of christian work, OCTOBER 1908)

“LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is.” (Psalms 39:4, NLT)

2.) WE ALL MUST BE BORN AGAIN

Jesus answered and said to him (Nicodemus), “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3, NKJV)

➢ THE WALKING DEAD

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1, ESV)

3.) WE ALL HAVE A DIVINE APPOINTMENT

➢ First Death Is Physical

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,” (Hebrews 9:27, ESV)

➢ Second Death Is Spiritual

"And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books…Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11–15, NLT)

➢ Belief in Christ means we have “passed from death into life”

"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24, ESV)

“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” (Romans 5:6, NLT)

Life Group Questions:

  1. When dose the clock start ticking for the of length your life?

  2. How brief is life? What does, “teach me to number my days” mean for you?

  3. Explain what being born-again means. Why is it important?

  4. Whose names are written in the book of life?

  5. Who is standing before the great white throne and what is the second death?
