Series: Prevailing Through Storms
“What Kind of Man!"
1. MANHOOD AND CHRISTLIKENESS ARE SYNONYMOUS
“When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority…” (Matthew 7:28-29 NIV)
“When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.” (Matthew 8:18 NIV)
“Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’ He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.” (Matthew 8:23-26 NIV).
“The men were amazed, and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him!’” (Matthew 8:27 NIV)
2. FIND AND EXTRACT LIFE LESSONS FROM CURRENT STORMS TO PREPARE YOU FOR THE NEXT STORM
A MAN WHO KNOWS HIS MISSION
A MAN WHO KEEPS HIS COMMITMENT
A MAN OF PEACE, AND IN PEACE
A MAN WHO USES DISCERNMENT
A MAN IN AUTHORITY, YET UNDER AUTHORITY
Life Group Discussion:
Describe a time when you encountered an unexpected and overwhelming challenge, or hardship. Did you respond more like the disciples or like Jesus? (Read Matt. 8:18-27)
Why did the disciples respond the way they did? What did Jesus say to them?
How was Jesus able to respond the way He did in the storm?
What needs to change and be strengthened in you to respond the way Jesus did?
