Series: STANDING FAST

MY PREDETERMINED "YES!"

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.  (Galatians 5:1 NKJV)

  • STAND FAST:

    • To be fixed, rooted, settled, and affirmed in a position or a belief.

    • Steadfast denying of everything else that does not support, contribute or lead to that fixed position or belief.

  • THE QUICKER WE STAND FOR SOMETHING, THE LESSER WE WILL FALL FOR ANYTHING

As surely as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.”  For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God’s ultimate “Yes,” he always does what he says.  For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.  (2 Corinthians 1:18-20 NLT)

1. GOD’S RESOUNDING “YES,” REQUIRES YOUR RESPONDING “AMEN!”

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.  (2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT)

2. SAY “NO” TO THE FALSE GOD OF “OPEN OPTIONS”

As surely, as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.”  For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” (2 Corinthians 1:19 NLT)

And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.  (1 Kings 18:21 NKJV)

3. ADVANCE YOUR “YES TO THE CONVICTION” TO AVOID FALLING INTO THE “CYCLE OF CONFESSIONS”

Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them.  So they can’t keep on sinning because they are children of God. (1 John 3:9 NLT)

Life Group Discussion:

  1. Why is it important that you stand for something?

  2. Have you said “Amen” (“I agree with You God”) to all of God’s promises in your life (the blessing of abstinence and purity, the sacredness of marriage, the joy of committing to His Word)?

  3. Are you a person that likes to keep their “options open?”How can this have an effect on you moving forward and prospering in the LORD?

  4. Why is it vital that we advance our “yes to the conviction?”Do you find yourself often confessing rather than winning? What can you do to change?
