1. THREE PARABLES: A Lost Sheep, A Lost Coin & A Lost Son
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.” (Luke 15:4 NIV)
“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one.” (Luke 15:8 NIV)
“[T]he younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.” (Luke 15:13 NIV)
SO, HOW DID YOU GET LOST?
2. HOW DO WE GET UN-LOST?
FIRST, REALIZE THAT YOU’RE LOST
“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!” (Luke 15:17 NIV)
SECOND, GO BACK TO WHERE YOU BELONG
“I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.” (Luke 15:18-19 NIV)
THIRD, THERE IS NO THIRD STEP
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.” (Luke 15:22-24 NIV)
3. THOSE WHO THINK THEY’RE FOUND CAN BE THE MOST LOST
“The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.” (Luke 15:28 NIV)
4. JESUS IS THE OLDER BROTHER WE ALL NEED
For the Son of Man [Jesus] came to seek and to save the lost. (Luke 19:10 NIV)
