"Uncovering Heart & Hunger"
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. (Matthew 13:44 NLT)
YOU ARE A TREASURE PLANTED IN THE FIELDS OF LIFE
Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20-21 NKJV)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.(Matthew 5:6 NKJV)
HOW DO YOU STAY HUNGRY?
1. POUR OUT WORLDLY RECOGNITION; IT’S OK TO HAVE “NO REPUTATION”
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. (Philippians 2:5-7 NJKV)
2. PROTECT THE FLAME; IT’S YOUR MOST IMPORTANT DUTY
Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you. (2 Timothy 1:14 NLT)
3. COUNT YOURSELF OUT, IF CHRIST IS NOT IN IT
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them rubbish, that I may gain Christ(Philippians 3:7-8 NKJV)
Life Group Discussion:
Who are you to the Kingdom of God?
How does “worldly recognition or reputation” often suppress your hunger for God?
Why is protecting the “flame” and passing the “torch” critical in staying hungry for God?
What are some examples on how you can “count yourself out” in things that do not glorify Christ?
