“Build Memorials"

"But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God…” Deuteronomy 8:11 NLT

MEMORIAL: (n) something, especially a structure, established to remind people of a person or event.

1. BE UNASHAMED, IT’S TIME TO GET PERSONAL!!

"Now choose twelve men, one from each tribe. Tell them, ‘Take twelve stones from the very place where the priests are standing in the middle of the Jordan.” Joshua 4:2-3 NLT

2. YOUR LIFESTYLE OUTSIDE OF CHURCH BEARS WEIGHT TO YOUR MEMORIAL!!

"Each of you must pick up one stone and carry it out on your shoulder…” Joshua 4:5 NLT

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20 NLT

3. YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS ARE SNAPSHOTS OF GOD’S GOODNESS!!

“Joshua also set up another pile of twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan…And they are there to this day.” Joshua 4:9 NLT

… “In the future your children will ask, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’  Joshua 4:21-22 NLT

Life Group Questions:

  1. When was the last time you shared your testimony with someone?? How often do you talk about God??

  2. How can your “Lifestyle outside of Church” build up your memorial?? How can it destroy your memorial??

  3. Do you consider intimacy with God to be important?? How does Devotions/Journaling help you to pass on the good news of Jesus to the next generation??

  4. What’s one thing/lesson you’ll pass on to your children to help them through their journey??
