Series: Welcome Holy Spirit!
“Destiny's Child"
“…he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.” (Luke 1:15 NASB)
“Your hands made me and formed me…” (Psalm 119:73 NIV)
1. GOD’S DESTINY AWAITS EVERY CHILD!
* CHILDREN ARE THE TARGET OF THE DRAGON
* CHILDREN’S DESTINY IS THE TROPHY OF THE DRAGON
“So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” (Revelation 12:17 NASB)
2. SPIRITUAL WAR: PRO-CHOICE VS. PRO-LIFE
* NOT AN EMBRYO, FETUS - BUT A CHILD
“…an angel of the Lord appeared to him (Joseph) in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph…do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. (21) She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.’ (22) Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: (23) ‘BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,’ which translated means, “GOD WITH US.’” (Matthew 1:20-23 NASB)
“All who heard them kept them in mind, saying, ‘What then will this child turn out to be?’ For the hand of the Lord was certainly with him.” (Luke 1:66 NASB)
“And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying…” (Luke 1:67 NASB).
3. SPEAK DESTINY IN THE WOMB, AND IN THE WORLD
“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS; To give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins.” (Luke 1:76-77 NASB)
“And the child continued to grow and to become strong in spirit…” (Luke 1:80 NASB)
Life Group Discussion:
What are some of the practical, and spiritual challenges our children face?
As a parent, are you more or less hopeful for the destiny of your child(ren)? Why or Why not?
What are you willing to do to help our children win against the dragon, and realize their God-given destiny? (i.e. you don’t need to be a parent to do this)
Did you vote? Are you going to vote? Why or why not?
