“Where's The Turkey"

DOES YOUR THANKSGIVING USUALLY LOOK LIKE THIS:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control . . . (Galatians 5:22-23 ESV)

OR THIS:

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. . . . (Galatians 5:19-21 NIV)

HOW CAN I NOT JUST SURVIVE THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS, BUT THRIVE THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS?

1. FOCUS ON THE WHO OF THANKSGIVING, NOT THE WHAT OF THANKSGIVING

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16 ESV)

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:24 ESV)

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

(Galatians 5:25-26 ESV)

2. FOCUS ON THE THANKS-GIVING, NOT THE THANKS-GETTING

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

(Galatians 5:18 ESV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

(Galatians 5:22-23 ESV)

3. REMEMBER THAT FOR THE CHRISTIAN, THANKSGIVING ISN’T A HOLIDAY, IT’S A WAY OF LIFE

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV)

Make an A-Z List of Thanks

Tell 5 people why you’re thankful for them (not for what they do, but for who they are)
