“Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise, he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money”. (Matthew 25:16-18 NKJV)
~ THE ART OF STEWARDSHIP ~
Stewardship - To provide careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. A good steward (manager) does things in the best interest of the owner. As GOD is the owner of ALL, we should “steward all that we have in the BEST INTEREST of GOD”!
“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1 (NIV)
STEWARDS PROPERLY MANAGE THEIR GOD GIVEN ASSETS. WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND THAT CAN BLESS GOD?
“Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)
2. SEEDS MULTIPLY MORE SEEDS WHEN PLANTED IN THE RIGHT SOIL. FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP BRINGS A REWARD!
“To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.” Matthew 25:29 (NLT)
Read Matthew 25:14-30 (The Parable of the Talents). What stood out to you in this story? Do you sometimes see yourself as the person with the One Talent (not having much, afraid to step out in faith, focused on what you lack instead of the blessings you do have)? How can you overcome these feelings of inadequacy and be obedient to God in the area of giving?
2. How can you become a better steward and “invest” into the things God? In what specific ways can you use your time, talents and treasures and take steps of faith to make it happen?
3. When we mismanage money, money will mismanage us. In what ways can you become a better steward of your money? What types of soil are you planting your seeds in? Is it resulting in a good return? Why or why not?
