“ And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” (Luke 2:52, NASB)

1.) CHARACTER IS THE FORM SEEN BY THE WORLD

“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.” (Genesis 1:2 NKJV)

“Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.” (Proverbs, 22:1 NLT)

“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,” (Philippians 2:14–15, ESV)

2.) CHARACTER IS OFTEN DEVELOPED IN THE “DARK”

  • “Character is what you are in the dark.” DL Moody

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:1, NASB)

“Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the LORD tests the heart.” (Proverbs 17:3, NLT)

3.) CHARACTER IS CONTAGIOUS BOTH GOOD AND BAD

“Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33, NLT)

"For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44, NLT)

“…but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12, ESV)

  4. What help can choosing friends with good character be in perfecting your form?
