Avoiding Relational Pits pt.2
1. SEX IS A GIFT FROM GOD MEANT FOR MARRIAGE.
“...a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”
Genesis 2:24 (NKJV)
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”
Hebrews 13:4 (NIV)
2. ABSTAIN FROM HAVING SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE.
IT’S NOT ABOUT VIRGINITY, IT’S ABOUT PURITY.
“God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways….the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.”
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 (NLT)
3. DON’T FIGHT LUST, FLEE FROM IT.
“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (NKJV)
“Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?”
Proverbs 6:27 (NIV)
