Enjoying A Happy Life PT.2

“The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.”

Genesis 2:8 (NKJV)

1) Be content, but not COMPLACENT.

“Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.”

Genesis 2:15 (NKJV)

"I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; it was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down,"

Proverbs 24:30-31 (NLT)

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.'”

Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV)

2) Where complacency is present, CLOSENESS DIMINISHES.

"A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.” Proverbs 24:33 (NLT)

"And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord among the trees of the garden." Genesis 3:8 (NKJV)

"Human history is the long, terrible story of man trying to find something OTHER than God to make him happy. God cannot give us happiness and peace outside of Himself because it is not there." - C.S. Lewis Victory Group Questions:

1) Re-read Genesis 2:8. Are you in the "garden" that He has planted for you? If not, explain where you think you are in this current season of your life.

2) Recall a time that you believe complacency caused you to let your guard down. Discuss with the group about how it affected the season you were in. 3) When you've fallen short or let your guard, do you find yourself hiding from Him or running to Him?
