Dear Friends and Family (Ohana):
“When you begin to love the applause a little bit too much, that should be a warning sign”
I love receiving praises; and accolades – in other words, the applause. I suspect many people do. That’s okay. There’s nothing inherently wrong about that. But, I learned that when you begin to love the applause a little bit too much, that should be a warning sign. “Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.” (Proverbs 27:21).
Did you catch it? “…a person is TESTED by being PRAISED”. The purity of our heart is tested for pride; a diva mentality; fear of rejection. The motive of our heart is tested. Do we receive praises and applause with a humble heart, or does it increase the size of our head and ego?
One of the greatest test of character isn’t how a person handles failure, it is how they handle success. Let’s make sure we keep the praises and applause of people in the right perspective. In the end, the only praise, and applause that matters are the one we receive from Heaven!
I want to extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to all the graduates! May God continue to bless, protect, provide, and guide you on your ongoing journey towards His great destiny! I am so proud of you!
