Dear Friends and Family (Ohana):
Did you know that if you’re following the Journal Bookmark every day, and doing your Daily Devotions - you’ll read the Old Testament once, and the New Testament twice in one year. So, it’s not surprising that I’m reading this scripture for my second time: “And He (Jesus) saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins. And He said, ‘Truly I say to you, THIS poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.’” (Luke 21:2-3 NASB).
At least twice a year, this scripture scrubs my financial giving back to heart. Sometimes, we forget that we don’t have to give, we get to give. God doesn’t just look at how much a person gives, He also looks at how much “heart” a person put into their financial giving. One brother in Christ shared that he had been unemployed for a season, and wanted to give BIG , but couldn’t. Yet, he said “I always gave something when I came to church”. Wow, what heart!
This poor widow didn’t just give everything she had in her purse, she gave everything she had in her heart. This is what Jesus recognized as “worship” through financial giving. This widow’s heart touched Jesus’ heart so much, we still read about her til’ this very day. Yup, it’s good to scrub, scrub, scrub back to heart (at the least twice a year).
Come and receive spiritual refreshing, as PASTOR JONATHAN will equip, and empower us with his message titled “AN UNEXPECTED MOVE” at this Wednesday Night Service! We are also praying for the MEN who are leaving for “Men’s Camp” at the end of the week!
Then, on SUNDAY, I’ll be opening a NEW Message Series called “WELCOME HOLY SPIRIT”! The title of my message is “YOUR DIVINE GUIDE”. Invite your friends and family, and don’t miss this “NOW” word!
UPDATE on our RESTROOM EXPANSION project: Pastor Bam and I met with our Architect and confirmed the reason for even the lowest bid of $196,960 (i.e. Project is “commercial” rather than residential; the economy is doing well; government fees; the need to hire a “bonded” General Contractor & licensed Subcontractors to expand the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire sprinkler & alarm etc.). However, we are still in process of exploring other options. All righty then!
Nonetheless, GOD IS STILL GOOD…and, we will get this project done so that nothing hinders the growth of our church! Therefore, let’s continue doing our best to prepare and complete the CONTRUCTION PHASE! Yes, our initial “under-estimated” goal to raise $50,000 needs to change. But, our NHLV family (Ohana) serves a BIG GOD…and, together we can get this done! We received a little over $7,500 thus far!
This project may be delayed, but not denied! Let’s continue to press forward, and partner with God to make this happen! Please make checks payable to: NEW HOPE LAS VEGAS. On the memo line write: “ADVANCE”; OR you can give through our APP (scroll to “ADVANCE”). Thank YOU for your generous contribution!
Much Love,
Pastor Kent
