Answer the Call

1. GOD’S CALLING IS LESS ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE DOING, BUT WHO YOU’RE BECOMING.

“God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.” (1 Thessalonians 4:7 NLT)

● GOD IS CALLING US TO LIVE SANCTIFIED LIVES

Sanctification: the state of being set apart for God's purpose and the process of becoming holy like him

“So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God].”

(Colossians 3:5 AMP)

2. ANSWERING THE CALL WILL REQUIRE SUBMISSION, TRUST AND OBEDIENCE.

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

(Jeremiah 1:5 NIV)

“Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. 9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

(Jeremiah 1:7-10 NIV)

“Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.”

(Matthew 6:33 GNT)

3. GOD IS CALLING YOU TO SOMETHING GREATER THAN YOURSELF.

“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

(Matthew 16:25 NLT)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

(Acts 1:8 NLT)
