Crown Your Ear

My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.

Proverbs 4:20-22 (NIV)

1) GUARD YOUR EARS, EYES AND MOUTH, FOR THEY ARE GATES THAT OPEN DOORS TO YOUR SOUL

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22 (NIV)

2) DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR; SPEAK LIFE BECAUSE WORDS HAVE POWER

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

Ephesians 4:25 (NIV)

3) CROWN YOUR EAR WITH GODLY INFLUENCES, KINGDOM WISDOM AND WORDS OF FAITH

My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck. Proverbs 1:8-9 (NLT)

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

VICTORY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1. When it comes to guarding the gates to your eyes, ears and mouth, what area do you struggle with the most? What scripture can you declare over this area of your life?

2. Read Ephesians 4:25. What hinders you from “speaking the truth in love” to your family and those you do church life with? In what ways can you speak life to one another?

3. Do you have any godly influences in your life who can build you up and crown your ear with the truths of God’s Word? If so who? If not, who can you connect with? (This includes distant mentors such as Christian authors and speakers.)
