He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20 (NKJV)

Characteristics of a Flaky Friend

1) FLAKY FRIENDS COME WITH CONDITIONS. TRUE FRIENDS HAVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR YOU.

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 (NIV)

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.

Proverbs 17:17 (NLT)

Characteristics of a True “Kingdom” Friend

2) BE A STEPPING STONE, NOT A STUMBLING BLOCK TO YOUR FRIENDS

Jesus turned to Peter and said, Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.

Matthew 16:23 (NLT)

3) YOU HAVE MANY FRIENDS, BUT IS JESUS YOUR LORD?

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.

John 15:13-14 (NIV)

VICTORY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1. How can you apply Proverbs 13:20 to your life?

2. Share about a true friend in your life (how you met, why were you drawn to them, and what your friendship looks today). How can you be a better “Kingdom friend” to them?

3. Read John 15:13. Have you ever had opportunities to live out this scripture in your relationships to others? Explain.

4. Do you struggle with putting friends and family first before obeying the Lord? Explain.
