“So David and his men continued along the road while Shimei was going along the hillside opposite him, cursing as he went and throwing stones at him and showering him with dirt. The king and all the people with him arrived at their destination, exhausted. And there he refreshed himself.”

2 Samuel 16:13

1. DAVID WAS UNCLEAR OF HIS DESTINATION. . . BUT CLEAR IN HIS DESTINY

“Why should you come along with us? Go back and stay with King Absalom. You are a foreigner, an exile from your homeland. You came only yesterday. And today shall I make you wander about with us, when I do not know where I am going.” You can be unsure of your path but still be firm in your pursuit.

2 Samuel 15:20

2. DAVID WAS UNCLEAR OF HIS ROLE... BUT STILL CLEAR IN HIS IDENTITY

  • HE LOST HIS THRONE BUT NEVER HIS CROWN

“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”

Revelation 3:11

3. DAVID WAS UNCLEAR ON WHAT GOD WAS DOING... BUT HE WAS CLEAR ON WHAT GOD HAD SAID

"Then the Lord said, ‘Rise and anoint him; this is the one.’” Many times we’re desperate for revelation when all we need is confirmation.

1 Samuel 16:12
