Overcoming the Voice of the Accuser

  1. Satan's Four D's: DefeatDistractDiscourageDivide

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Revelation 12:10-11 NKJV

2. SATAN IS ALWAYS THE ACCUSER, NEVER GOD

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?” Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments. And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.”

Zechariah 3:1-4 ESV

3. CONVICTION IS GOD'S WAY OF CONVINCING US OF WHO WE ARE

So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God.

Hebrews 9:11-14 NLT

4. WHEN WE ARE FORGIVEN, BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB, THERE IS NOTHING FOR WHICH WE CAN POSSIBLY BE ACCUSED OF ANY LONGER

5. THE VOICE OF THE ACCUSER STILL SPEAKS, BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS SPEAKS A BETTER WORD

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:19, 22 NLT

"I have witnessed the reality of Jesus’ life in me, therefore, I boldly speak the words and message of Jesus. Whether in life or death - I am living proof of the power of His death, burial and resurrection."

Victory Group Questions:

1.) When was the last time you experienced the voice of the accuser? Was he trying to discourage, defeat, or distract you? Or was he trying to cause division in your relationships?

2.) Have you ever mistaken guilt and shame as coming from God? What do you do when you begin to experience condemnation from the enemy?

3.) Because of Jesus' life in you and His blood upon you, what lies or accusations from the enemy are you throwing off today, so that you can be free to serve Him and testify of His goodness?
