Re-Aligned By Grace

  1. GOD’S GRACE IS SHOWN THROUGH CONVICTION.


“As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief... For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death."

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (ESV)


“My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”

Hebrews 12:6 (NLT)


  • REVELATION WITHOUT APPLICATION IS SIMPLY INFORMATION, NOT TRANSFORMATION.


“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.”

  1. ALLOW CONVICTION TO BRING CONFESSION.


“Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.”

2 Samuel 12:13 (NLT)


Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.

James 5:16 (ESV)


“People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 (NLT)


  1. DON’T GET IT TWISTED. GOD CONVICTS, NOT CONDEMNS.


“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the

world might be saved through him.” (John 3:17 ESV)


Life Group Questions:

1. How does conviction demonstrate God’s grace, and why is God’s correction actually evidence of His love?

2. What is the difference between conviction and condemnation, and how can we recognize which one we are experiencing?

3. What does it look like to move from hearing God’s Word to actually applying it in our lives? (James 1:22)

4. Like David, why is confession important when God reveals something in our lives that needs to change? What can keep us from confessing?

5. What is one area God is currently convicting you about, and what step of obedience can you take to become realigned by His grace?
