“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 NKJV
1. VIEW THE TITHE AS A STANDARD AND NOT A REQUIREMENT!
“...You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.”
Matthew 23:23 NLT
“As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, ‘Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ ‘Why do you call me good?’ Jesus asked. ‘Only God is truly good.”
Mark 10:17-18 NLT
2. THE PURPOSE OF THE SEED IS REPRODUCTION NOT CONSUMPTION!
“There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.”
Proverbs 11:24 NKJV
3. A SURRENDERED LIFE LEADS TO A GIVING HEART!
“There is still one thing you haven’t done,’ he told him.‘Go and sell all your possessions and
give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Mark 10:21 NLT
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 ESV
VICTORY GROUP QUESTIONS:
1) Are you a cheerful giver? If so, how did you get to this point? If not, explain why.
2) What is your stance on the tithe? Or what has been your struggle with the tithe? Take this time to share perspective and bring edification. (It’s good to talk about these difficult
subjects.)
3) Do you believe that someone sowed a seed into the church many years ago and you’re now reaping the benefits of that harvest? How do you plan on doing the same for
someone else? Share.
4) What did you take away from the message that wasn’t already discussed? Share.
