“…what therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

(Matthew 19:6 NASB)

1. WE NEED TO KEEP WHAT’S SACRED

SACRED (Declared holy, connected to God, set aside/dedicated to a religious

purpose)

“Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled…” (Hebrews 13:4 NASB)

2. ONE PLUS ONE EQUALS ONE

“So they are no longer two, but one flesh…” (Matthew 19:6 NASB)

  • BECOMING ONE TAKES “TIMES

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”

(Genesis 2:24 NASB)

  • BE COURAGEOUS IN SOLVING RELATIONAL PROBLEMS IN SUCH A WAY THAT HONORS GOD, AND BUILDS BIBLICAL CHARACTER

3. PHYSICAL PLUS SPIRITUAL UNION

  • DIVORCE MAY BE EASY, BUT ALWAYS MESSY

“’For I hate divorce’ says the Lord…”

(Malachi 2:16 NLT)

4. MARRIAGE PLUS PASSION, PLUS MISSION

“Nehemiah said, ‘Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared…Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.’”

(Nehemiah 8:10 NIV)

“God blessed them; and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky…”

(Genesis 1:28 NASB)
