1. SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS IS INSIDIOUS BECAUSE IT’S INVISIBLE AND OFTEN FATAL
“…the chief priests and the elders of the people…plotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him.”
(Matthew 26:3-4 NASB)
“But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, ‘Why this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.’”
(Matthew 26:8-9 NASB)
“…Why do you bother the woman? For she has done a good deed to Me. For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. For when she poured this perfume on My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial.”
(Matthew 26:10-12 NASB)
2. DARKNESS CAN ENTER OPEN WOUNDS OF THE HEART, OR EVEN A BRUISED EGO
“And Satan entered into Judas…”
(Luke 22:3 NASB)
“So he (Judas) consented and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him (Jesus) to them apart from the crowd.”
(Luke 22:6 NASB)
FAKE FRIENDS KISS YOU IN PUBLIC, BUT DENY YOU IN PRIVATE
“Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, ‘Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him.’ Immediately Judas went to Jesus and said ‘Hail, Rabbi!’ and kissed Him.” (Matthew 26:48-49 NASB)
“…Jesus said to him (Judas), ‘Friend, do what you have come for.’ Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.”
(Matthew 26:50 NASB)
3. A PERSON’S INTEGRITY IS REVEALED WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT YOU, WHEN YOU’RE NOT PRESENT
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.”
(Proverbs 27:6 NASB).
LEARN TO SPEAK WELL OF A PERSON WHEN THEY’RE NOT PRESENT
HAVE A FAITHFUL LIGHTNING ROD PERSON IN YOUR LIFE
CHOOSE WHAT KINGDOM ROLE YOU’LL PLAY: REBEL OR REFORMER
“…he (Judas) went away and hanged himself.”
(Matthew 27:5 NASB)
HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED?
“Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
(Matthew 26:13 NASB)
